Clones Yoga Studio is dedicated to the teaching, practice and study of Yoga in the spirit of ‘viniyoga’.
‘Viniyoga’
means special or skilful application. The ‘viniyoga of yoga’ means
to adapt all aspects of the teaching in a way that is appropriate to each student, taking into account their particular interests, needs, personality, lifestyle, level of fitness and current state of health.

In this spirit we :
Start from where the student is at

At first it may be necessary to adapt the practice and work around limitations. Through time, as the person’s unique potential becomes apparent, they will be encouraged to work in appropriate stages towards
its full flowering.

Emphasise the value of relationship between teacher and student
In a relationship of mutual trust, instruction from teacher and feedback from student are equally important in guiding the student towards a practice which will truly support them in their life situation. To support this relationship we favour small classes and often encourage individual tuition.

Explore the many tools of yoga as they apply to the individual

As well as asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques), the student may be helped by the use of sound, meditation, relaxation, visualisation, attention to lifestyle, or study of appropriate texts.

Appreciate Yoga as a source of nourishment for the whole person
We may feel the first benefits in the body, but careful practice over a period of time leads to an appreciation of the intimate relationship between body, breath, mind, emotions and spirit. Gradually, each student progressing at their own pace, can experience healing, growth and transformation on all these levels.

‘Before Yoga is taught, the teacher should
consider the time, the surroundings, age,
employment, energy and strength of the student’
