Individual
Tuition
Traditionally
Yoga was taught on an individual basis and it is still seen
as an important way to explore Yoga. Individual lessons
provide an opportunity to adapt the practice to the student's
current state of health, life-style, interests and needs
– it is in fact the ideal way to apply the principles
of ‘viniyoga’.
Within these
one to one meetings, a practice is developed and personalised
for the student to use regularly at home. The teacher guides
the student through the practice, carefully ensuring that
it meets their needs and that they are comfortable with
the techniques used. The practice respects the student's
limitations but can also, with time, stretch their abilities.t
Initial
Consultation:
This half-hour consultation is offered without charge to
discuss individual requirements.
requency
of lessons:
A student usually
meets their teacher every two to three weeks. However, as
they become more familiar with Yoga practice, this can be
reduced to every five to six weeks. The frequency
and overall number of the lessons can vary, but a minimum
of six sessions is suggested in order that the benefits
and potential of practice are experienced.
The home
practice can vary in length from 10 minutes to an hour,
depending on how much time the student has available. Normally,
the practice is from about 25 to 45 minutes.
You may find individual
sessions particularly useful if you:
• Have
problems with mobility or energy and find a group class
very challenging
•
Are very
clear what you would like from yoga eg stress management,
meditation,relaxation, weight loss
•
Want support
in dealing with a specific health problem – this can
be physical,mental or emotional
•
Want to deepen
your experience of yoga by regular practice that is appropriate
to your unique needs and circumstances
Students
attending a group class may find it helpful to have a one-to-one
session from time to time, as a support for their
personal practice.
